I miss being trusted

I used to use cash at the gas station. It doesn't make sense to me that I can't use cash because "some other guy" likes to drive off without paying.

I have used the same gas station for almost a year now because it was the only gas station that would still trust me enough to take cash - but they no longer trust me either. I was a faithful customer. Every Monday after school. But to them, I am no exception. Apparently I was baiting the system so that one day when my tank was EXTREMELY empty, I would just fill it and run.

They think that if I pay first, it is no different than if I pay after. But, if they are not going to trust me with their fuel, why should I trust them with my change? Oh, that's right - I am the villanous customer and they are the upstanding corporate American representatives.

Perhaps I should commit a crime. It seems as though the American Courtroom is the only place where I am innocent until proven guilty. It would be nice to feel trusted once more.

  3. Aw....cute graphic, Ryan!

Ok, scary/funny thing - I got a call once from the Greenwood Village Police Dept because my husband had apparently "forgotten" to pay for his gas. Yes, he was mighty puzzled when he got home and I not only knew he had gassed up the car, but precisely how much the gas had cost. It turns out he had swiped his credit card, but it didn't register and he didn't notice. If the station had let him pay cash, you know, they wouldn't have had to chase him down!

The other scary thing... they didn't have a camera on the pump. The cashier was watching him through binoculars and wrote down his plate number. That's kind of creepy.

  4. Here's my personal beef to add to this "not being trusted issue"

I went to King Soopers and Walgreens last night to buy cold medicine for my son. Because of whacked out druggies, I am no longer allowed to buy Children's Motrin Cold off of the shelf because it has a medicine used to make Meth. So I have to go to the pharmacy...which of course was closed when I got to both stores...so I just couldn't buy it. How lame!

    "Roger -

Ok, I think this "rule" is the product of a guilty conscience on the part of the gas people. They are ripping us off, so they think we will rip them off. I heard today on the radio that we have one of the highest gas rates in the nation. I was just in Iowa/Illinois this weekend and gas was at $2.00/gallon. (Yes, you read that right)."

  6. so this has nothing to do with gas, but on the subject of being trusted:

today we had a test in one of my classes, and my prof made us put all of stuff except for pen/pencil on a table in the front of the room, sit two desks apart, and then we weren't allowed to leave the room afterwe had started the test. Not even to go to the bathroom unless it was an absolute emergency, in which case we were escorted. hello? I'm in college, at a christian school! it really irritated me.
